We believe the Lord has called us to be good stewards of our resources, and in doing so we researched how best we could reduce the cost of operating our chapel. When building our chapel we paid close attention to adding plenty of insulation and installing LED lighting; these steps helped us achieve efficiencies. For energy production we found it would very helpful to install an array of solar panels, and then networked them with our local energy provider, Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative. Solar energy has come down in cost, but we could not afford to install a system, but we prayerfully trusted God to show us the way. The Lord answered our prayers and we received an incredible gift of fifteen, 320 Watt industrial solar panels from Mission Solar of San Antonio. The chapel grounds have many beautiful trees, so instead of placing panels on our roof, we built a stand-alone solar platform structure that provides a place for the panels and doubles as a great shade for our picnic tables. The cost of the solar platform was also covered by a loving gift. We expect the system to completely eliminate our electrical cost.
